St. Luke’s Health System opens new Neuroscience Institute
Published: 14-Jan-2013
Saint Luke’s Health System has opened the new $32 million St. Luke’s Neuroscience Institute at the Plaza campus designed by ACI/Boland Inc.
St. Luke’s Neuroscience Institute has added state-of-the-art facilities for treating diseases such as strokes, epilepsy, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, reports The Kansas City Star. Spanning 88,000-square-foot, the new tower consolidates diagnostic, surgical, interventional, intensive care and other services under one roof.
The tower features four neurological operating rooms and a 13-bed recovery unit, three neurointerventional suites, an expanded epilepsy monitoring unit, an 18-bed neuroscience intensive care unit and 68 private patient rooms.
The centre has been designed in a manner that it will allow specialists to better collaborate with one another for treating patients. Construction of the Neuroscience Institute began in 2012. J.E. Dunn Construction Co. was the general contractor on the project.
