Published: 16-Oct-2012
St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, US is undertaking $108 million renovation project, which is part of a multi-year plan to renovate its facilities.
The renovation project is aimed at modernising the entire campus and improving the quality and efficiency of care. Comments from more than 700 patients and 300 people on the hospital's staff were taken into account for the final design.
The renovation project involves addition of a five-storey bed tower which will feature 90 private rooms facing East Fremont Street and a renovated facade on Oneida Street. Entailing an outlay of $79.5 million, the bed tower will replace an existing wing on Oneida Street built in 1924.
It will also include renovations and upgrades to the cancer center, and the adolescent behavioural health inpatient unit. There will be upgrades to the central utility plant and new diagnostic and other equipment as part of the renovation. Additional elements include a renovated cafeteria, mechanical systems and rooftop gardens.
According to Ministry Health Care, renovation work is expected to begin in October 2012 and completed by January 2015.
