The facility covering an area of 15,000 square feet will be developed by FW Madigan. The structure has been designed by making use of a lean design process and Building Information Modeling software. The new design is expected to cut down waiting time significantly from 33 minutes to a mere five minutes.
The building incorporates one single system to carry out both check-in and check-out instead of segregating the check-in and check-out areas. This system reduces congestion and in turn, deceases waiting time. Also, all the exam rooms are identical with their contents positioned in the same place to facilitate the staff.
The exterior of every exam room comprises colour-coded tabs to allow outside teams to be made aware of wait time, clean-up time, requirement of supplies as well as availability. Further, the centre of the facility features front offices made of glass to allow better access among the doctors and staff while also allowing checking of the occupancy status of the rooms.
