Mace completes new children’s burns unit at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in UK

Published: 12-Feb-2013

Global consultancy and Construction Company Mace has completed the new children’s burns unit, which is the first phase of a proposed ten at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in the UK for the NHS Foundation Trust.

The first phase of work, which costs around £1.7 million ($2.67 million), consists of the complete strip out and a total re-fit within the first floor Chelsea Children’s Hospital to create a new children’s burns unit.

Designed to be a separate entity from an adult environment, the new paediatric unit will provide inpatient and outpatient therapy and dressing changes and sufficient bed space capacity to meet the demands of the catchment area.

Apart from that the multi-phase project also involves the internal modelling and reorganisation of various clinical departments within the existing Chelsea & Westminster Hospital complex. This will include a new diagnostic centre, children’s medical and surgical wards and children’s outpatients.

The project has been delivered under the iESE Framework. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is currently one of the leading providers of burns care in the UK, providing specialist inpatient and outpatient burns services to a population across Greater London and the South East.
