Kiowa County Memorial Hospital gets new home

The Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, US gets its new home as the Murray Company completes its 50,000 square feet replacement facility.
The new facility will include 15 beds and a family practice, as well as dental and eye clinics. It will also include pharmacy. It will also have a day care for employees to use. The facility will incorporate a HVAC system, high-insulating valves, natural day lighting throughout the facility, and a wind turbine to generate green power on-site. It will also incorporate many water-efficient features, such as a gray water filtration system and rainwater reuse in its bathrooms.
The construction waste will also be recycled. Regional and recycled materials will also be utilized for the project. The irrigation system for the landscaping is also water efficient. The company expanded an existing pond on-site so that it could handle excess storm water. The system stores water on-site, and filters it to the ground through bio-swales.
The hospital, which was completely destroyed by a tornado in 2007, is LEED-certified.
