Kier undertakes construction on new healthcare facility in Kent

Published: 29-Oct-2012

UK-based construction major Kier Group plc is undertaking construction of a new Urgent Medical and Ambulatory Unit (UMAU) at Maidstone Hospital in Kent.

Designed by the UK-based Pick Everard architectural firm, the project involves the conversion of the existing Monckton Ward at Maidstone Hospital into a new unit. The UMAU will accommodate three four-bed wards, two single bedrooms and two four-trolley recovery wards.

The new unit will also house a Medical Elective Day Unit area for ambulatory care, in conjunction with an assessment room and nurse and doctor support space. The project has a timeline of 17-weeks for completion and is scheduled for delivery in November 2012.

The project is being developed by Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, and forms an integral part of Scape National Minor Works framework.
