IHP joint venture to build new mental health facility in Blackpool
Published: 22-Mar-2013
Integrated Health Projects (IHP), a joint venture between Vinci Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine, has secured a contract from Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust for a new mental health inpatient unit called The Harbour, at the Fylde Coast in Blackpool.
Replacing the Trust’s existing facilities on the Fylde Coast, the new £45 million ($66.45 million) project involves the development of a 154-bed facility, which will include a psychiatric intensive care unit.
Designed by UK-based Gilling Dod Architects, the new unit will feature private bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, garden areas and a range of facilities required to support a person’s recovery and the maintenance of their everyday living skills.
The project is being developed through the NHS Procure 21+ framework. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in April 2013 with completion by the end of 2014. The new health facility is scheduled for opening in the first quarter of 2015.
