Centegra Hospital-McHenry reopens upgraded emergency wing

Published: 31-Jan-2012

The Centegra Hospital-McHenry in Illinois has reopened its Emergency Department (ED) after a facelift worth nearly $6 million.

The ED, which started construction towards the end of 2010, has increased in size from 10,000 to over 15,000 square feet following the makeover. It now comprises 21 treatment rooms as well as 14 patient rooms in the observation wing. All the new treatment rooms are private and large. They incorporate solid walls and sliding doors made of glass.

The upgraded facility houses a pair of new trauma rooms. The rooms sport advanced ceiling mounted technology. There has also been creation of a new outpatient observation unit located adjacent to the ED as part of the project. The hospital further features a new waiting space, along with a centralized nursing station post renovations.
